Baron Batch, another Pittsburgh Steelers player using Twitter for no good

Baron Batch, the beloved Pittsburgh Steelers 2nd year running back has been making quite a name for himself, twitter. Batch, who was a 7th round pick for the Steelers last year, was supposed to compete for the Steelers 3rd down back job as a rookie. Instead, Batch tore his ACL and was out for the season. Sucks.

Never want to wish anything like that on a guy, especially a supposedly upstanding kid like Batch. That being said, after seeing the way Batch uses his Twitter account, I have to wonder about his mental state and his maturity. Batch always picks fights with people on Twitter. Why? Why would he let trolls, bloggers, and people that you do not know on Twitter get under your skin so easily?

It all started when Batch was saying that women are hardly ever funny. Even if that is true who is Batch to say that? Who is Batch to talk about women in a degrading manner. He did not call the women nasty names per se, but still that is a dangerous subject to talk about for a guy who is supposed to be a professional athlete.

Batch later went on to pick a pointless argument with a one of my fellow followers @WilliamFucich. @WilliamFucich called Batch out for talking trash on women. The two argued for a while, Batch taking the bait every time. Batch's tweets can be seen below:

I'm sure people will come to defend Batch. Say what you will that is not how a professional athlete should be talking to people on Twitter. Just ignore them, it seems like you would have something better to do. Instead Batch talks about being a Christian guy, talks about being better then someone like me or @WilliamFucich, but still comes down to "our" level and picks fights on Twitter....Why?

What good can come from this for Batch?

It didn't stop there. I then talked to Batch, trying to talk sense into him. I told Batch that he shouldn't be talking trash to fans and that he should just ignore people that "troll" him on Twitter. He responded with this:

Baron, I'm glad you are a real person with real opinions. That's a good thing but that's not my point. Having opinions and being a real person is fine but you are also a professional football player for the Pittsburgh Steelers, act like one.

Batch continued to tweet me multiple times along with another fellow follower @AStype.

Again say what you want about me. I work for a bank during the day and I run this blog. I'm a blogger and yes I have trolled people on twitter, guilty as charged. If I played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, I probably wouldn't even respond to a "nobody" talking trash.

I also have no idea why Batch thinks he is the man. Yes you got drafted into the NFL and that is a HUGE accomplishment. Say what you want about me but I have the same number of rushing yards in the NFL as Batch. He hasn't quite made it yet. And as long as Steelers rookie running back Chris Rainey doesn't kill or kidnap his ex-girlfriend, Batch might not even make the team.

Batch is very immature and the fact that a few bloggers and trolls on Twitter can get under his skin so easily can't be a very good sign. Batch blocked me last night and continued to boast about blocking me. Really? I'm sure Baron Batch could be using his time for something more productive. Maybe go to the gym, read your playbook, something?!

You would think a devoted Christian, which Batch claims to be, would be humbled by the events that took place last year. Instead he acts as if he is someone important, someone who is better than everyone else. That's why I called him out.

Batch isn't the first Steelers player to do this kind of stuff on Twitter either. Mike Wallace uses vulgarity on a regular basis, has ddegraded Steelers fans, and the city of Pittsburgh. He also spells every other word incorrectly. Ryan Clark called people retards and blocked me on Twitter, yet he claims to be a mature devoted Christian.

Then of course was the Rashard Mendenhall disaster. Mendenhall defended Osama Bin Laden and compared the NFL to slavery. Mendenhall was also known for getting into Twitter fights with fans and other people.

I will not say that these guys shouldn't be able to use Twitter. That is their right. But if I am the Steelers I would tell them to be careful what they post. Again you are in the limelight, you are a professional athlete. Act like one.

  1. i think its quite funny that you talk about spelling errors, what about your grammar errors? and you are upset at the way he responded to you. well maybe if you would have responded in a more mature way, he wouldnt have reacted the way he did. but if he would have done what you suggest and not respond you would bash him for that.

  2. 10-4 Chad, i can honestly say i like Baron, i give him the benefit of the doubt cuz he was broke in TX a few yrs ago, now hes paid in Pittsburgh, so i can understand some shell shock/ignorance from him at times. But as you said, he is a professional athlete, if he has to bite his lip, big deal, its what you signed up for, we are fans of the team you play for, so our opinions kinda do matter. If you feel like we are being critical, maybe you should open your mind to what were talking about, instead of writing us off as "a hater who lives in his parents basement", even if we did, whats the big deal? something against the less fortunate?

  4. Being a Christian doesn't mean letting people walk all over you. Have you ever studied the Apostle Paul? Dude was a witty and sarcastic guy. Just because someone is a Christian doesn't mean they can't block fans who annoy them. Being a professional athlete doesn't mean not having opinions or no freedom of speech. What will happen to Batch for his so called bad behavior on Twitter? NOTHING. ZIP. ZILCH. NADA. You people up North are so uptight. Live a little. Twitter is whatever you want it to be.

P.S.- Baron was sarcastic and unsympathetic to opinions before he got drafted by the NFL. He definitely has not changed into a fame monger who loves messing with the little people.

  5. You are a troll, yet you get mad when someone responds to you? That's what trolls do they talk and want responses. So when you get that response and it's not what you like, you try to bash the guy for clowning you? Dude, maybe you should stick to YOUR job. Count some money, sharpen some pencils, recalibrate your calculate or mop the floors, whatever you do at the bank. Go to the gym, you probably need it. But definitely you should do something more productive than trolling athletes.

Who is he to take offense to someone...Who are you to determine what another grown man should be doing? Grow up. It's twitter don't get your feelings hurt.

Ultimately it's a sport, he's someone who's been more gifted and blessed to play that sport than bloggers. He's a regular dude who happens to be the owner of some pretty legit skills, he has an opinion. So what, you're a nobody bank employee with a blog. Who gives two bowel movements what you think?

  7. MadChad you are a fucktard that writes crap and just trolls people to get attention. If you put half as much energy into getting a real job as you do writing this pathetic blog you would be successful at something. I think its funny that you talk shit but cant take it. Go figure.
