The Chicago Blackhawks are doing something incredible right now. They haven't lost in regulation all year. They beat the Minnesota Wild tonight to keep the streak alive. The Blackhawks have now gone 23 straight games without losing in regulation. That's unreal. What an amazing accomplishment in perhaps the most grueling/hard to play sport in the world.
Hockey fans can surely appreciate what the Blackhawks are doing, but why does ESPN not only have to pretend to care, but then go on to shit all over the sport? Watch this "debate" on one of ESPN's shows, where Stephen A. Smith not only shits all over hockey, but does inaccurately.
Ties? There hasn't been a tie in hockey since 2004. How hard is it to research that? Go to fucking google. Furthermore, we already know that ESPN, most of the people that work for ESPN, and most of the people that watch ESPN programming hate hockey. It's OK. There are plenty of other channels, radio stations, blogs, websites, and other news outlets to get your hockey coverage.
I'd rather have ESPN come out and say "Look we think hockey is boring and it sucks and we don't give a fuck". I for one wouldn't care nor would I be surprised. I know Stephen A. Smith hates hockey and so does Skip Bayless. Fuck em.
I'm actually surprised that ESPN didn't do a segment on the lack of minorities in the sport. Perhaps Jemele Hill could write an article entitled "What if the hockey puck, was white?" Or maybe they could have had a debate about how Tim Tebow isn't NFL quarterback material, and perhaps he should learn how to ice skate and play right wing for the Florida Panthers to create a real buzz.
If you don't know who Jemele Hill is consider yourselves lucky. Hill is a more openly racist version of Stephen A. Smith who gets to freely write "thought provoking" pieces like this gems:
Hill was then suspended for saying that fans of the Boston Celtics were similar to Adolf Hitler. Via Deadspin.com
Here's another gem not written by Hill, but a writer known as Toure. If this isn't professional trolling I'm not sure what is.
Pure garbage. Nothing better than this blog or all of the other great blogs that I have read. They get some hack to write something really controversial with little facts. Purely opinion. I'm actually kind of glad they don't care about hockey.
ESPN mostly hates hockey because they don't show the NHL. That's why they truly act like they don't give a damn. If they still had shows like "NHL2night" and had a few games on a week like they used to, they would at least give it a somewhat honest attempt to take the sport seriously.
Awfulannouncing.com had a great article about this subject a year ago. This is what ESPN VP Vince Doria had to say in the article.
Yeah no shit Mr. Doria. But see this is fine with me, at least this is some truth. I'd rather get this than have that ass clown Stephen A. ignorantly ranting about how hockey is so inferior to the NBA. By the way the NBA fucking sucks. If you watch that shit and take it seriously something is wrong with you. Hockey is by far the sport that takes the most athleticism and talent to play. 82 games with more contact and speed than football and basketball, with the hand-eye needed to hit a 100-mph fastball, all the while on ice skates. It's the greatest sport in the world.
But ESPN doesn't care about the world. They care about America and TV ratings. They care about if Tim Tebow took a smelly shit today and if it was runny or not. They care about who Tony Romo is banging. They want you to know that LeBron James could win the presidency one day if we keep going down this "Idiocracy" way of living.
This is an amazing article by Deadspin.com about how ESPN has zero journalistic integrity and how they only care about ratings, not actual sports analysis. ESPN = TMZ Sports. It's junk. It's bad for your mind. It's like eating a 1500 calorie microwavable dinner at 3am while huffing.
In the end of this pointless rant, I just want to say that I for one am boycotting ESPN programming. Not that I have watched much of ESPN programming recently but from time to time I almost get forced to. Illuminati..... Just kidding. But there are some very talented people that work for ESPN. I'm sure there are some good people as well. But the people running the station are creating pure garbage. I'm done with all of their mindless shit that they call sports coverage.
Also I love hockey, I don't just love the Pens, I love the sport. So I'm not going to tollerate people bashing it, especially out of ignorance. People like Stephen A. are entertainers, not journalists. I"m sure people will say well Fuck your blog blah blah blah, that's fine. You can't stop me from writing on this blog just like I can't stop ESPN. But I still get the last word. Fuck ESPN.
And I"m out.
