Maurkice Pouncey Named Captain by Steelers

The Pouncey brothers, both Mike and Maurkice Pouncey, both play in the NFL, both repping Aaron Hernandez with "Free Hernandez" hats on. Maurkice , plays for your Pittsburgh Steelers, his brother Mike who plays for the Miami Dolphins, have also both been linked to Hernandez in Rolling Stone's amazing article about Hernandez.

As pointed out by "Steel Dad", An article in Rolling Stone magazine about the demise of Aaron Hernandez came out today and in it, the piece discusses that former Florida Head Coach Urban Meyer had “assigned” the Pouncey Brothers to monitor Hernandez as much as possible. Even Tim Tebow was given this task as well.

According to Rolling Stone, there was one particular incident in which the Pouncey Brothers were a vehicle with Hernandez and chased down a car. Allegedly someone had tried to take a necklace. Someone from their car fired into the other and the description of the gunman suited Hernandez to a tee

Wow...Thug life all of the way! I hate to stereotype someone as a gangster or a thug, but it's really hard to not label Pouncey that based on what we've heard about and seen when it comes to his brother and he. Pouncey, going into just his fourth season, is a multiple Pro-Bowler and was told by the team that they wanted more of a leadership role from him...But even with that said, they picked a bad year to have him named team captain, along with Ben Roethlisberger, Brett Keisel, and Ryan Clark.

This team already has question marks when it comes to leadership, losing to inferior teams, taking tons of penalties, teammates calling each other out publicly, the offensive coordinator, the quarterback feuding or whatever the local media says they're doing, and the amount of turnovers the team have had all reflect mediocre leadership.

How can the players voted for Pouncey justify Pouncey exemplifying better leadership characteristics than Heath Miller? Miller has trained so hard after injuring his knee, he's way ahead of schedule and even got activated off of the PUP list. Miller has more tenure, has been a better overall player, and has definitely acted like much more of a leader than I've seen from Pouncey thus far. But hey, you and I aren't in that locker room, so who knows how they vote. After all, James Harrison was a captain, and he was arrested and acting like a big asshole to most people.

Overall, it won't affect much when it comes to the actual outcome of games, but it definitely doesn't look good to the outside world. Especially in a year in which I have never seen so much doubt about a Steelers' team since 1999. If things do go south as expected this season, the world of the Pittsburgh Steelers will be Hell on and off the field. Yikes.
