One of the dumbest fucking stories you will ever hear about a professional football happened today, and unfortunately for yinzer nation, it involved the Pittsburgh Steelers. The veterans and captains of the Steelers held a player's only meeting today and made a decision about the locker room. They came to a stern decision that only players that have been in the league four years or longer can play pool or ping-pong during business hours.
After a disappointing and embarrassing 0-2 start, this team and season is going up in flames. Injuries, players fighting with coaches, and now this.
I have no idea how the Steelers are supposed to turn around their season but I'm pretty damn sure that it isn't by not letting guys like Markus Wheaton access to the billiards table from 9-5. That's just my opinion though.
I'm also trying to figure out why that would even be the solution. Are the young players really that distracted by ping-pong and billiards? You would think it would be money, women, drugs, alcohol, video games etc.....
Hey David Decastro a little less of this
and more blocking the opposing defensive tackles.
Hey maybe Forrest Gump can return kicks and play running back, perhaps the Steelers could score more than 10 points.
Apparently the players even put up signs regarding the rules but management took them down soon after. God forbid there's any form of discipline in the locker room, even if it is childish.
Is there any doubt that Mike Tomlin plays ping-pong with the players, high fiving them, followed by a team trip to get ice-cream?
They asked Todd Haley for his comments and said "Well no more ping-pong but we're still playing beer-pong bitches!"
The young guys can't play ping-pong or pool, but their captains can still:
Show up to work in a giant tractor causing a big ruckus.
The young guys can't play ping-pong but another one of their captains can still #FreeHernandez.
Hey no more ping-pong for the young guys but I guess going down Carson Street and partying is still ok.
Listen, all jokes aside, this is just silly. The Steelers are a mess. The team's offense is horrible, the playcalling is horrible, the leadership is horrible, the coaching is horrible.
I doubt ping-pong regulation is going to fix any of that. Or will it? Hell, maybe this will turn their entire season around...Maybe they'll finish 14-2! Maybe they'll unleash Hell!
