Sidney Crosby's Inury Sucks

I know you know what happened in Saturday's game. Sidney Crosby got hit in the mouth region by a Brooks Oprik slapshot. Now Crosby is missing teeth, and his jaw is broken.  The only injury joke I'll make is this; If Brooks Orpik would have injured one of the Islanders instead of Crosby, it would have been Orpik's biggest contribution to this season so far. Crosby getting injured just sucks. Crosby getting injured and having to miss a significant amount of hockey games really sucks. 

Crosby is the best player in the game. The stats at least say that. He has the highest active points per game average in the NHL, Stanley Cup champion, captain, gold-medalist in the Olympics. But this is now the second time he will miss significant game time in a regular season, This is also the second time Crosby got injured during an amazing streak matched with amazing numbers. 

In 2010-2011 Sidney Crosby got injured in the Winter Classic and again against the Tampa Bay Lightning with a concussion, and was out for over a year That year Crosby had a 25 game point streak that was ridiculous. During the streak he had 27 goals , 24 assists, and 51 points. Crosby missed most of last season and people started saying he was never going to play again. Some people even hoping so. 

Crosby was running away with the scoring title, just like he is right now, and the Pens were doing well that season, just like this season. Deja-Fucking-vu. The Pens have already had a shit low of injuries this year, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Paul Martin come to mine. Now Crosby gets his jaw broken by his teammate. Then you see shit like this on Twitter:

Then you question people who would take joy in an amazing talent like Sidney Crosby. Hell, I tell jokes about celebrities, but I never wish harm to them. That's messed up. The things said about Crosby today were pretty crazy. Death threats and idiocy plagued Twitter, and all of the internet ever since. If you're a fan of hockey in general would you should want Crosby to be healthy. Well based on the disgrace that I've seen, not many people can say that. 

But now it's not even just idiot fans on Twitter saying things about Crosby. Former Pens player and Stanley Cup winning coach Randy Carlyle had this to say about Crosby:

Then you question people who would take joy in an amazing talent like Sidney Crosby. Hell, I tell jokes about celebrities, but I never wish harm to them. That's messed up. The things said about Crosby today were pretty crazy. Death threats and idiocy plagued Twitter almost all of today. If you're a fan of hockey in general would you should want Crosby to be healthy. 

But then again who cares. I mean I'll defend the guy but these people's opinions shouldn't matter to a guy like Crosby. So who cares? Crosby has a broken jaw. That's all that matters. 

What's even worse with the Crosby hate is the reality that has settled in in terms of the Pens playing without him. Obviously the Pens have had regular season success without Crosby. Malkin will be expected to turn into the MVP type player once again with Crosby out of the lineup. 

 The Pens had Tyler Kennedy in Crosby's place on the first line today. Which means that they must think Dustin Jeffery is the worst player in the world. Yikes! I expect 401 different line combinations with Crosby out. If it's me I go; 14-16-9- 12-71-18, 10-48-24, 27-46-10. Put Sutter with Kunitz and Dupuis. Keep Iginla with Malkin, he came here to play with Sid and Geno, not Brandon Sutter and Tyler Kennedy. 

Evil Shero Pens Initiative 

Short term the Pens will be fine without Crosby. However, I don't think they can win a cup without him. I'm sure people will hate on me for saying that but it's my blog so I really don't care. Hopefully Crosby and Paul Martin will be ready by the playoffs. Typically, a broken jaw takes about 4-6 weeks to heal. The playoffs start April 30. That doesn't leave much time to heal. Maybe he'll miss the first round. I don't know. I"m not a doctor nor did I stay at a Holliday Inn last night. 

Considering all of the hate on Crosby, he should just play the villain. Come back with this mask protecting his face.
