Does Beau Know Playoffs? #CupOrBust

With the Stanley Cup Playoffs just beginning I decided to choose a player on the Pens roster that could potentially gain a lot of attention. The issue with this is that the guy I want to choose may or may not have an ample amount of playing time. With that said, I chose Beau Bennett as my breakout star.

Beau has played in 26 games this year logging 3 goals and 11 assists for 14 points, not a particularly bad stat for a young guy in the NHL. I thought he had look particularly strong during the black and gold scrimmage this year but was sent back to the AHL as a result of the Pens preferring the services of Eric Tangradi.

After that was a bust the Pens set their sights on Beau Bennett, a player that improved his two way hockey ability in the past years. He debuted on February 15, 2013 against the Jets and found himself his first NHL goal on February 24, 2013 against Tampa Bay.

The thing about Beau is that he does not have the rookie mistakes a lot of new guys in the NHL have. He has developed into a strong two way player, and is able to defend when the time comes. I do not see a lot of turn overs and he has great hands.

Dan Bylsma generally does not prefer to play rookies in the playoffs yet has openly admitted that Beau has earned playing time although how much time has yet to be determined. I do feel though that, if given the chance, Beau will continue to play up to the level his team demands of him.
