Steelers 1st PIck

How great would it be to see a new law firm in town? Even though Pouncey and Pouncey has a nice ‘ring’ to it, the brother of our center Maurkice Pouncey may not be around for our 31st pick this year’s NFL draft. The Dolphin’s front office are drooling at the chance to pick Pouncey up at the 15th spot. Mike Pouncey, the standout, versatile offensive guard from the University of Florida has openly said that his goal is to go higher than his brother in the draft. Mike is a spitting image of twin brother Maurkice at 6foot5 320 pounds and has feet like a Chicken Hawk. The Steelers may trade up to get him, but experts have other plans for the Steel City.

One thing is for certain, we could use a revamping of our offensive line. Pouncey would be a great fit. We could also use a defensive back. Other experts are predicting Danny Watkins, the massive offensive lineman from Baylor, Ben Ijalana another monster offensive lineman from Villanova, or possibly Aaron Williams a speedy defensive back from Texas. Drumroll please…. How about Brandon Harris?!

Who is that??

Brandon Harris is the standout cornerback from Miami University. He has decided to forgo his senior year and enter the draft early, possibly to come and collect some jewelry with our Steelers. Harris is listed as 5ft 10in and weighs in at 191 lbs. Get him in the weight room and this might just be the best pick in the first round. Last year Harris was the Florida Gatorade Player of the Year. He recorded 49 solo tackles, five sacks, four interceptions, and took two to the house for touchdowns. Even though he is entering the draft as a corner, he also played wide receiver for the Hurricanes. As a wide out he racked up 26 receptions for 501 yards (yes, that’s over five football fields) and had eight touchdowns.

His freshman year he started in six of 13 games for the Hurricanes at corner and collected 30 tackles, one interception, and a sack. The next year he only continued to improve with 55 tackles, two interceptions, and another sack. He was a first team All-ACC selection and was given second-team All-American honors by Sports Illustrated as well as third-team All-American by the Associated Press. Tally it up. Inside of three years he has 32 starts, played in 39 games, 129 tackles, and three interceptions.

If Harris doesn’t get picked up by the Eagles at their 23rd seed, we could use him. Experts have the Redskins interested at 41, but the Steeler’s 31 spot there’s no better pick!

Think of it this way, what better way to destroy a Raven than to toss it to a Gator or a Hurricane!
