According to the "players" Ben Roethlisberger is the 12th best QB and the 61st best player in the NFL. The only QB's he is in front of are Mathew Stafford and Colin Keapernick. HA! You have got to be joking right? I can maybe put three quarterbacks ahead of Ben: Aaron Rogers, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning. To have guys like Andrew Luck, RGIII, Russell Wilson, Cam Newton, Matt Ryan, and Drew Brees a head of him is laughable. But lets talk about the real issue. How far ahead of Ben is Joe Flacco?
Look, I'll give Flacco some credit. He did play really well in the playoffs, and was a key part on the Ravens Super Bowl run. But is he a better QB than Ben? Hell no and he never will be.
Ben has been in the league longer so the stats can be skewed but either way you look at it Ben is just better, period. In Ben's first five years He won two Super Bowls (05-06 and 08-09) and took the Steelers a AFC championship game in his rookie year, 2004. Flacco has one Super Bowl, which came in his fifth year, and not counting this year he hasn't played good at all in the playoffs.
Flaccos playoff numbers are actually are way below average. His overall completion percentage is only 55%. He has 19 TDs to 8 INTs, but take out this year when he had 11 TDs and that is an 8:8 ratio, not good. In Ben's first five years his completion percentage in the playoffs averaged at around 63%, with a 15:12 TD/INT ratio. To go along with one more ring I'd take that over Flacco anyday.
According to NFL Network the list is the top 100 players of "2013", so lets compare.
Ben's Stats: 13 games played, 63.3 comp. %, 97 QB rating, 3265 yards, 26 TDs and 8 INTs.
Flacco's stats: 16 games played, 60 comp. %, 87 QB rating, 3817 yards, 22 TDs, and 10 INTs. Ben is clearly superior. Before his injury against the chiefs, no QB was playing better.
Flacco is going to be higher than Ben on this stupid list. If you are basing it off of the regular season there is no way Flacco is in the same league as Ben. Flacco is only going to be higher because of his playoff performance but hey good for him he deserves it. Honestly, this isn't opinion these are facts, and hell even a recent poll on a Baltimore website said most would prefer Ben over Flacco. I expect things to go back to normal Flacco got his money, and Ben is in his prime. Flacco will once again under achieve, and they will lose to the Steelers in the playoffs just like the good old days. Hey Joe nice try bud, but you'll always be second place.
Sounds like sour grapes to me.
ReplyDeleteBen is great when on the field. An unreliable player is no better than a poor player. Ben was good for 7 wins last year in the regular season. Joe got them 10. And Ben had the number one defense. Again. Joe had the number 19 defense. This argument is closer than you think
