The Great Escape for PNC Park

The Pittsburgh Pirates are on a six game losing streak, having fallen from the cloud nine that was .500 baseball in May. As we all are too well aware, the Pirates are a part of a grander streak that is the longest streak of losing seasons in all of sports at 18 seasons and counting. So, it makes sense that the Pirates are not selling out the seats in PNC Park. Currently the Pirates average 16,985 fans per game at PNC Park which has a capacity of 38,496. Bobbleheads, fireworks, $1 hog dog nights, and all you can eat seats and other such gimmicks draw higher crowds. I have not a gimmick, but a challenge to Pirates fans to do something awesome that will entertain the lethargic fan base at PNC. A Houston Astros fan made the game incredibly exciting with this run.

I challenge a Pirates fan to do likewise, and not get caught and hit with a taser like the Phillies fan of last season. The plan for an escape at PNC Park would in fact be easier than getting out of an Astros game. The left field wall at PNC Park is only 6 feet high, so that is a challenge but not impossible. From the left field bleachers one can run down and out of the park from the left field entrance. Reliance on the left field loonies will also be key to block out security guards, simply by standing in their way or causing a disturbance like this…

. For a more high profile escape, one could clear the 10 ft. center field wall (where the PIRATES bushes are) and head to the right/center bleachers. A leap from there would give a runner access to the rivers and a water escape, so plan on having a friend with a motorboat waiting for you in the river. Of course the key to such success is guts and heart. I commend the Astros fan for his classic white guy stop and go. A classic that can always break ankles so why stop using it. A PNC Park escape would make another Pirates loss more special than usual. Until the Pirates start winning more consistently, the little things in life such as outfield disturbances will awaken the PNC crowds
