Penguins hire Bill Guerin as Player Delevelopment Coach

Bill Guerin has been named the Pittsburgh Penguins'  player development coach. The 40-year-old three-time Olympian played for eight different teams over 18 seasons in the NHL, scoring 429 goals with 427 assists and winning two Stanley Cups. One of which was with the Penguins in the 2008-2009 season.
Here's an interview that's on the Pittsburgh Post Gazettez's website with Shelly Anderson and Billy G:

On staying with the Penguins: "I knew this was the team I wanted to be with probably two days after I was traded here. It's a good fit."

On taking a year to decide on the field of player development: "I wanted to stay in the game; I just didn't know what was out there job-wise. But I also wanted to be at home for this past year, to be around for my wife and my kids."

On shadowing assistant to the general manager Tom Fitzgerald some last season: "Ray [Shero, the general manager] said I could follow Tommy on a few trips. There's so many different things he does. I wanted to see where I fit, what part of the job I liked. We came up with player development. I really enjoyed my time with the younger guys, helping them become successful players for Pittsburgh."

On what he found with today's prospects: "Times have definitely changed. Physically, guys are getting themselves more ready. The fact is that 18 is still 18 or 19 is still 19. No matter what your physical makeup, they're still kids and they haven't had the experience that NHL players have had. They have a lot to learn. Guys are open to help. They want to play in the NHL."

On perhaps getting on the ice during practice when he visits Pittsburgh during the season: "That's something I'm sure I'd like to do, but only if I get to skate with my old line."
