It is the beginning of free agency and #Jagrwatch is finally over.
When the rumors started that Jagr was interested in coming back to Pittsburgh and the Pens were interested in having him back it was exciting. It actually looked like this reunion could happen. The Penguins would had a legitimate winger and vastly improve their power play. Jaromir Jagr would have his chance at redemption. Supposedly his heart is in Pittsburgh. He would have a shot to make right with the city of Pittsburgh, Mario Lemieux and the Penguins as a whole after the whole sendoff ten years ago.
Ten years ago when Jagr demanded to be traded, he wanted out of the city. He wanted away from the team that took him 5th overall in the draft. The Pens would not have been able to pay him, but still the way he went out left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth.
When all of this started I wondered and so did others has he matured since the last time we saw him ten years ago? He is a better person? Does he truly just want to make right with Pittsburgh and the Penguins? Would he be a good locker room influence for this young team?
Well I thought he changed, I thought he matured; I am all for giving people 2nd chances. I was wrong. This is the same idiot that demanded to be traded from the Pens ten years ago. This is the same idiot who couldn’t share the spotlight with Mario when he came back. This is the same idiot who was a cancer in the locker room.
Why he is still that person? It’s how this whole #jagrwatch situation unfolded.
Ray Shero made Jagr and his clown agent an offer Tuesday. He was supposed to get a response from Jagr Wednesday whether or not he accepted. There was nothing from Jagr or his agent.
Fine, give him another day and surely he will respond Thursday. There was silence all day Thursday too. Supposedly Jagr and his agent forgot how to speak? Have they forgotten how to have class? Oh wait, they have never had class. They are both fools. Once Thursday passed it was obvious Jagr was playing the Penguins, Mario, and the fans.
There was a glimmer of hope for today but obviously Jagr was up to something. If he truly wanted to play here he would have either accepted the offer or made a counter offer. But he did no such thing.
Twenty minutes before free agency started today Ray Shero pulled the Penguins offer. The chances of Jagr reuniting with Mario and the Pens were over. He obviously hasn’t changed since his last days with the Pens.
We thought maybe he matured, maybe he grew up while playing overseas, and maybe he really cared about his image. We were dead wrong. I think he may be worse now than he was ten years ago when he left.
It was bad enough what he already did. He slapped Mario, Shero, and every Pens fan in the face. He betrayed us.
On top of all that, it’s one thing to sign with the Red Wings or the Canadians for more money, but to go sign with the team and city Pittsburgh fans can’t stand the most!
How dare him! Who does he think he is?
“Jags” is a 40 year old prima-donna who has very little left in the tank.
Philadelphia truly is the perfect place for him. It is the only place that can hold his mega sized ego. Not all, but the majority of Philadelphia players and fans are selfish jerks who care about no one but themselves. That is what Jagr was, is, and will always be.
Jagr will be the downfall of that locker room. He will do in Philly what he did with his time with the Pens. Philadelphia will never win a cup with him as their “go to guy”. Who are you going to pass it to Jagr? Max Talbot who just joined you in Philly?
Good luck with that. As far as ever getting your jersey retired here, you can kiss that goodbye. Your legacy was and always will be tarnished here. You had a chance to make amends, but your big ego wouldn’t let you.
Thanks but no thanks “JAG-OFF”!
