Pittsburgh Steelers Profile: Brandon Lindsey by Lisa Stover

-

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed Brandon Lindsey, from the Pittsburgh Panthers, and he couldn’t be more excited. Sure, it must of hurt that Lindsey finished this year’s draft…well, undrafted, but seriously what player could be mad about joining the Steelers? This is the team that makes NFL players.

For all of you who are wondering how bright of a decision it was for the Steelers to grab Lindsey, let me tell you, this kid is going to make a name for himself in no time.

Lindsey, who lists Michael Jordan and Dwyane Wade as some of his favorite athletes, is from the town prepares high school football players for the NFL. Ever heard of a small town about 30 minutes from Pittsburgh, called Aliquippa? Of course you have if you follow football. This town produces NFL players like the South produces peaches, and Lindsey is Aliquippa’s newest peach.

I could write a whole article on this town by itself, in fact I have, read it here:

Lindsey is in some good company as he can always turn to former Aliquippa Quips players like Ty Law, Jonathan Baldwin, and Tommie Campbell, who recently gave Lindsey a shout out on Facebook, to turn to for advice. And, if you have ever had the pleasure of watching Lindsey do his thing on the field, like I have, then you know this kid has got ‘it’.

So, why did he go undrafted? Well, my personal theory for that is he didn’t have a chance to show his real talent with Pitt, the team was a mess during Lindsey’s last year! They went through at least 4 coaches and they had Lindsey switching positions constantly. There wasn’t a single Pitt player drafted, and that hasn’t happened since 1999. So I really feel Lindsey went undrafted due to mismanagement of the team, not at all due to lack of talent.

Either way Lindsey is now a Steeler and that’s nothing to be upset about. He’s close to home and will have the support of his whole town behind him. The town of Aliquippa couldn’t be more thrilled to have their very own Steeler. I think this will turn out to be a blessing for him, no team gives you a better opportunity to make a name for yourself than the Pittsburgh Steelers.
