The Joe Flacco Conundrum

Joe Flacco proved a lot of his critics wrong in Super Bowl 47 by leading the Baltimore Ravens to a Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Not only did Flacco lead Baltimore to the win, he was named Super Bowl MVP by throwing 3 tds and 0 interceptions. Flacco, who has been in the league for just 5 seasons has now joined the "Elite" quarterbacks club, alongside Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Eli Manning, and Ben Roethlisberger.

Speaking of Big Ben, I will do a Ben vs Flacco part in a sec.

I want to talk about Flacco for a second. Flacco was amazing in the postseason for the "Rat Birds" tying a postseason record with 11 touchdown passes and zero interceptions while going 4-0 in four playoff games, including the Super Bowl. Not only that but Flacco outplayed Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady in the playoffs in head-to-head match-ups.

Flacco now how the same amount of Super Bowls  has Peyton Manning (one) and the same amount of playoff victories (nine). Of course Flacco's stats, especially in the regular season, aren't really "elite" but they're not bad either. He's not Dan Marino but he's not Trent Dilfer at the same time.

Right now considering his stats, the fact that he wins games, and his postseason success, I have to say that Flacco is the 7th elite quarterback in the NFL. In order I would rank him as the 7th best quarterback in the NFL.

1. Tom Brady
2. Aaron Rodgers
3. Drew Brees
4. Ben Roethlisberger
5. Peyton Manning
6. Eli Manning
7. Joe Flacco

All of those quarterbacks have either great stats or good stats with a Super Bowl or in some cases ring(s). That's my thoughts, I'll have another post comparing Flacoo and Big Ben later on today. Until then vote on the poll.
