Breaking News in Pittsburgh

RAY SHERO and the Penguins agreed to a five-year contract today. Shero has been the manager since 2006, and is arguably the best general manager in teh NHL. His only real mistake being the Alex Ponikorosky deal. [PittsburghPenguins.com]

BYRON LEFTWICH, who was released over the weekend, is expected to be re-signed by the Steelers today, which means one of his teammates will be released to even out the roster. PG]

DENNIS DIXON is reportedly out for two-three weeks with a torn meniscus. Even though I was never a fan of Dixon, it certainly doesn't help the depth at qb for the Steelers. Byron Leftwich is expected to be the starter.
