It was announced today by head coach Bylsma that Nick Johnson left practice early with an upper-body injury, and at the moment is not available for this weekend. At what point with these injuries do you just sit back and laugh a bit. I know there teams out there that have more man games lost to injury, but this stretch that the Pens are on is just unbelievable. If indeed Johnson can’t go, we will likely see Timmy Wallace re-called from WB/S again.
Lost in more injury news is actually some good news. Matt Cooke will return from his suspension on Sunday, and Kunitz and Letestu skated after practice today and are progressing. It was also announced that Aaron Asham has concussion-like symptoms and is not exercising yet. That brings the concussion count up to 3.
There have been some big trades today involving Boston, Toronto, and Atlanta. It is still to be seen what Ray Shero will do at the deadline or before it.
