Pitt wins again. Nasir Robinson shines

by Emily Mallon

Nasir Robinson led the Panthers to a 67-55 victory over South Florida with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The junior is averaging 8.5 points per game and 5.3 rebounds. After watching him against WVU, Villanova, and now South Florida, it feels like those numbers should be way higher.

Robinson is undersized for his position, but he's often times quicker than his man and is able to capitalize on both offense and defense. He's quietly become Pitts go to guy when a spark is needed on offense. This helps take the pressure off Wanamaker and Gibbs while creating headaches for the opposing defense.

Talib Zanna contributed 11 points in 15 minutes. Gilbert brown also had 11, while Wanamaker tied Robinson with 13 points.

The Panthers were dominant on the boards outrebounding the Bulls 40-18.

Pitt fans should be happy with the way the team has performed the past two weeks without leading scorer Ashton Gibbs. Wednesday nights win put the Panthers 2 games ahead in the Big East with a 24-2 record.

Gibbs is expected to be back on Saturday as the Panthers roll into Madison Square Garden to face a red hot St. Johns squad.
