The Pittsburgh Panthers earned a #1 seed in Southeast region of the 2011 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Pitt kicks off the tournament on Thursday, March 17th at 3:10pm. The Panthers will face UNC-Asheville or Arkansas-Little Rock. (The play-in game will be played on Tuesday night on TruTV).
Jimmer Fredette's BYU team earned a #3 seed in Pitt's bracket, while Chandler Parsons leads streaky #2 Florida. Pitt's probable second round match up against Old Dominioncould cause some problems. ODU is an outstanding rebounding team with a formidable inside presence. K-State and Wisconsin are also capable of causes problems in the bracket with both teams looking for redemption from disappointing seasons.
Even with the tough competition, this is Pitt's year. It's been said throughout the season by coach Dixon and his players that the goal is The Final Four. If Pitt plays their game with limited turnovers, I like their chances. But it would be a well earned Final Four berth coming out of a difficult Southeast bracket.
This is March Madness the land of one and done. 68 teams are 6 games away from a national championship. Pitt is 6 games away from cutting down the net in Houston. Let's Go Pitt!!
