Tim Thomas To Win Conn Smythe No Matter What

Drew Carey!? Nope, that’s Tim Thomas, and the price is right, but only with Tim Thomas. With the Stanley Cup Finals currently tied at three games apiece, game seven will be tonight back in Vancouver. The Canucks have won every home game by one goal. The Bruins have won every home game by a minimum of three goals.
This should tell us two facts; 1) The home team plays better in every game this Cup series, and 2) Tim Thomas does not care at all about fact number 1 and plays amazing every game regardless. If we follow the statistics, then Vancouver will win the Cup by a single goal tonight. The only problem is that Tim Thomas has been the best player on the ice consistently and is going to make it a rough low scoring game no matter what. What a great Stanley Cup! Personally, I would love to see the cup back in Canada, it’s been so long.

Not only that but it’s easy to have beef with the Bruins being a Pens fan. They gave us a lot of crap years ago when we changed our hockey colors to black and gold to match our Pirates and Steelers. But I digress, if game seven plays out how the other games have, the Canucks can hoist the baddest boy of sports trophies, but Thomas would have only let one more goal in than the Canucks. I think Tim Thomas is going to be the Conn Smythe winner regardless of who hoists the Cup.

Only five times in the history of the Conn Smythe has a player received the award, but lost the cup. Gigure for the “Mighty” Ducks in ‘03, Hextall for Philly back in ‘87, Leach for Philly in ‘76, Hall for St. Louis in ‘68, and Crozier for Detroit in ‘66. Reggie Leach played right wing, but the other four were goalies. History is on Tim’s side. Not to mention that .937 playoff save percentage! What the hell!? .937!!

Look folks, he is having a hell of a year whether you like him or not, and is putting on one of the best season long goalie performances I’ve ever seen. He has been spectacular to watch, and he has not tapered off at all in the playoffs.

Let’s enjoy this game seven, the nightcap to an incredible season of hockey. Regardless of who wins the Cup, look for Thomas to win the Conn Smythe for his hall of fame season. If the Bruins lose, I say sign Louis and Oswald to shore up that defense for Drew. Hopefully Thomas has a few more years left in him, as he is one of the top at his position in the NHL. The downside is he is already thirty-seven, but didn’t get started until his thirties anyways. I’ll end this article on a prayer, looking to the heavens for an answer. “God, why does hockey kick so much ass?”
