The Pittsburgh Penguins are dominating right now. They have won nine games in a row and are now just two points behind their next opponent, the New York Rangers. The Pens are getting great play out of a lot of different players, Evgeni Malkin, Jordan Staal, Marc-Andre Fleury, Pascal Dupuis, and James Neal to name a few.
The Pens are also going to add Sidney Crosby to this team as soon as this coming week, and hopefully will get the services of Kris Letang back by the beginning of the playoffs. Other teams have to be saying that just isn't fair. Oh well.
Malkin reached 500 career points on Sunday in a win over the Bruins and became the fourth fastest active player to reach 500 career points behind Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin, and Teemu Selanne. Malkin also regained the points lead and could capture his second Art Ross trophy this season. Malkin is on top of his game right now. I just hope that he continues to play the same when Crosby returns to the lineup. (Two-headed monster)
Speaking of Crosby, I know it's a tiresome subject but I think he will once again return to the lineup against the Rangers this coming Thursday. The way this team is playing right now, adding him just seems unfair. Crosby will be fresh and motivated, I expect him to be.........Crosby.
Marc-Andre Fleury has been unreal this year and continues to get snubbed in terms of attention and respect. I have seen a number of tweets and Facebook statuses about how Fleury is only good because of his team and "Fleury sucks". Blow me. Fleury is one of the best goalies and players in the league hands down. If you disagree you simply do not know what you're talking about.
Fleury recently became the fourth goaltender in NHL history to earn 35 victories in four straight seasons, but his critics will tell you that's because of the team.
Right now Fleury is second in the NHL in wins and has won his last seven starts and has only allowed 9 goals in those games stopping 224 of 233 shots. He is an elite goaltender if you think otherwise you're a moron and should watch Nascar.
Speaking of haters, Jordan Staal has been a F*cking beast lately. Staal has a nine game point streak along with the Pens 9 game winning streak. Staal has 12 points in the last 9 games and is a +9 in those games. Great two-way player who doesn't get the respect he deserves. People who just started watching hockey hate this man.
Lastly I want to recognize Pascal Dupuis who scored his 18th goal of the season in the win over the Bruins. On the breakaway goal he scored he made Marty Turco look fucking stupid. Dupuis could reach 50 points this season along with 20 goals. Max Talbot makes damn near twice what Dupuis makes. Boom.
Dupuis has done everything possible for this team this season. He's played center, winger, kills penalties, scores goals, and plays good defense. Very underrated and under-appreciated player.
James Neal went through a little slump but scored on Sunday and played a really inspired hockey game.
Ben Lovejoy sucks.
Simon Depres is a beast and I can wait too watch his game mature...He'll be a top line defenseman for years to come.
It'd be nice to see Matt Cooke get a goal.
Aaron Asham is going to make an impact in the playoffs.
Matt Niskanen has been playing very good hockey as of late.
This team is on a tear right now......To me, and of course I'm a little biased, the Pens are the most complete team in the NHL. Looking ahead, the New York Rangers are the only team I can see beating them in a seven game series, so hopefully they can avoid them until the Eastern Conference Finals. Pens can still get the number one seed as well.
