Pitt loses to Louisville

by Emily Mallon

Pitt lost another tough one in the end falling to Loiusville 62-59 yesterday. Losing in overtime always stings, but the Panthers must re-group and get ready for South Florida on Wednesday. Pitt is in jeopardy of losing their #1 seed. Joe Lunardi still has Pitt as a #1 in his most recent Bracketology but the Panthers are now number #5 in the ESPN poll and tied with Duke for #4 in the AP poll. Duke will get the nod if it's between Pitt and Duke for a #1.

It may not be fair, but Pitt fans need to prepare themselves for a #2 seed.

For the Panthers to get a #1 seed now, they MUST beat USF, Villanova, and make it to the Championship game of the Big East Tournament. It's possible for them the get there without this plan, but other teams would have to lose and Pitt cannot rely on that.

Although they played better in the 2nd half, the Panthers looked sloppy throughout the entire game. Nasir Robinson had a rough game only scoring 3 points. Gilbert Brown led Pitt with 20 points but missed a crucial layup at the end of the game.

The only bright spot on Sunday was a male cheerleader for Louisville thinking the game was over and celebrating by throwing the ball in the air resulting in a technical. After losing to St. John's and Louisville in close games it's hard to feel happy, but this video should give you a laugh:
