Pitt will travel to the KFC Yum! Center tomorrow afternoon to face 21-7 Louisville. (KFC Yum! Center is in fact the name of their arena). As with most Rick Pitino coached teams, Louisville is playing well at the end of the regular season. They're 10-5 in the Big East and working to get a first round bye in the Big East Tournament. Pitt has already cemented their first round bye.
Pittsburgh is stronger on the glass. Look for the Panthers to out rebound the Cards on both ends of the court. Louisville is 116th in the nation for rebounds per game. Pitt is ranked 7th averaging 40.6. The Panthers should take advantage of their inside dominance tomorrow. With Talib Zanna out, Patterson will continue to get more playing time.
Louisville gets strong guard play from their backcourt. Senior point guard Preston Knowles leads the team in scoring. Scrappy sophomore Peyton Siva also causes problems for opposing D. Problem is, these guys are small. Knowles is 6-1 while Siva is listed as 5-11 but looks smaller than 5-11 on the court. On paper, Pitt should win this game. But, Louisville plays as a team and when things are working for them, they're hard to beat.
If Jamie Dixon gets the win tomorrow, he'll set the all-time NCAA Division I record for most wins after the first eight years of a coaching career with 214 wins.
