Big East Race Close as Pitt Heads to USF

by Emily Mallon

Pitt heads to South Florida this evening to take on the Bulls. At their last meeting, USF gave Pitt all they could handle bringing the game within 2 points in the second half. This is a MUST WIN for the Panthers.

Notre Dame is now only 1 game back in the Big East standings with a 13-4 record. Pitt shares the same amount of wins at 13-3. The Fighting Irish dismantled Villanova on Monday and will face UConn on Saturday afternoon.

Pitt hasn't lost back to back games all season, so look for them to be ready to play this evening after their lackluster performance against Louisville on Sunday. So much of tournament seeding depends on how a team is playing coming into the big dance. Pitt has to show they're worthy of a number 1 seed and that they're the best team in the Big East.

USF is not a cakewalk. This team took BYU to 2 overtimes in November before losing 77-75.
