Big East finished the day 4-2 with Pitt, WVU, UConn, and Cincinnati winning. Louisville and St. John's quick exits were shocking as both teams came into the tournament playing well.
2 big upsets in the the Southwest bracket will likely kelp Kansas in the sweet 16. Instead of facing #4 Louisville or #5 Vanderbilt, the Jayhawks will face #12 Richmond or #13 Morehead St. (But first they will need to beat the winner of UNLV/Illinois).
UConn looks scary good. The Huskies showed no signs of fatigue from the Big East Tournament in their spanking of Bucknell 81-54.
Jim Calhoun took some flack for leaving his starters in until there were only 3 minutes left. This isn't the smartest move. Besides looking like schmucks, you run the risk of injuries. How would it look if Kemba Walker broke his leg doing a spin move when they're winning by 25? A lot of coaches do this, and it drives me nuts. I'm may be in the minority, but stop running up the score and show some class. Let your guys that ride the pine play in the NCAA tournament, and give your starters a break!
Jimmer is not enough to take BYU deep in the tournament. I love watching Fredette play, but it was clear to me last night that BYU is not strong enough to make a run. I have them winning over Gonzaga, but I wouldn't expect much more.
My bracket is busted. I finished the day 11-5.
Enjoy the best weekend of sports everyone! Let's Go Pitt!!!!
