Daily Top 5 List 5/11/2011

Welcome to my daily top 5. Every day I will have a new top 5 to introduce to the world on the blog. Now these are my personal lists, so there's going to be debates about them. I rank these top 5's on a overall basis. For example, if it's a the top 5 qb's of all-time, then I'm doing it based on talent, accomplishments, and overall career success.

Today's top 5 is going to be the best five bands of the 90's. I based these rankings on musical talent, amount of great songs, long jevitiy, and overall success of the band. Now doing just five bands is tough. There was a lot of really good music in the 90's. The early 90's was still dominated by hair bands. The mid 90's was dominated by the grundge scene. And the end of the decade was dominated by punk rock/heavy metal acts like Limp Bizkit.

With that being said here's my daily top 5. The Top 5 Bands on the 1990's.

5. Rage Against the Machine -  The band that has made a huge impact on our society by protesting and showing how they feel about their government. They rocked hard and their songs actually had a message. They still managed to produce good music and even do well on the charts.

4. Tool-  Although they only released two LP's and one EP, Tool will always be remembered as one of the most infulential bands of the 90's. They proved that hard rock can be intelligent while still making it accessible enough for a mainstream audience

3. Pearl Jam- Ah Pearl Jam. They sing my second favorite song of all-time. Aside from Nirvana, Pearl Jam was the most influential band of the Grunge movement. They have many more hits than Nirvana and their popularity has not faltered over the years.

2. Nirvana- Although the band will always be overshadowed by the ultimate tragedy of lead singer Kurt Cobain's suicide, Nirvana will always be remembered as the most famous and infamous band from the 1990s. They had many hits in the short time that the band soared to success, and they're beloved and remembered by the replaying of their music for new and old fans alike every day.

1. Red Hot Chilli Peppers- Hey maybe I'm biased. I love RHCP. I love their sound. I love their songs. And I love their music videos. It reached a great level of critical achievement and fan success as a rock and roll band in the 1990s.

Hope you liked the list. If you disagree, too bad. Just kidding. Post your thoughts below.

Here's some very good honrable mentions:
Foo Fighters
Soundgarden
Metallica
Alice in Chains
R.E.M.
Korn
