Jagr rumors dying down fast

Well it was fun while it lasted. A bunch of us Pittsburgh Penguins' fans had a ball dreaming of Jaromir Jagr coming back to Pittsburgh to help win another Stanley Cup. Thinking about Jagr playing on either Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin's line. It put a smile on your face, didn't it?

Now it's time to wake up! Jagr's not coming back to Pittsburgh. I'd be surprised if he came back to the NHL. Fact is the only reason Jagr's name was brought up in the Penguins' organization was to extend a invite to Jagr for a golf outing that is also being used as a reunion for the 1991 Stanley Cup team.

When that happened the rumors went out of control. Jagr back to the NHL. Jagr back to the Pens. Jagr-Crosby-Malkin! Wooooooooooooooo!

Jagr himself has even contributed to the rumors, buttering up Penguin fans saying how nice it would be to play with Crosby and Malkin and how much he liked his time in Pittsburgh.

Jagr was doing this because he wants to have his number 68 jersey retired without getting booed. He also wants to build a higher demand for him so he can cash in on his new and most likely last contract of his career.

It would have been cool for it to happen. Too bad this is real life and not reality. Now the only thing left to be done is have Jagr comeback to Pittsburgh to have his jersey retired. If you're there that night and you boo, you deserve to be shot. Go Pens!

"We were able to get that invitation to him, and we'd like to acknowledge his involvement with the organization," Shero said, adding that he has not spoken with Jagr's agents. "That's really all there was to it." - Penguins GM Ray Shero via the Pittsburgh Tribue Review
