I told everyone before he was drafted. Carolina Panthers' quarterback Cam Newton is not going to be a good quarterback in the NFL. Yet somehow he was the number one overall pick. Newton was a beast at Auburn, best player in the country, no doubt about it.
But being dominant in college doesn't mean being good in the NFL, especially at quarterback.
Newton is a great athlete, he's big, strong, and fast. But that doesn't translate into being a good quarterback in the NFL.
Newton does not have the brains, leadership, or the accuracy to be a successful NFL qb.
So far this preseason Newton has gone 8-19, 6/19, and 7/14. All 50% or under. That's dreadful even for a rookie. It's preseason!
Take a look at this video and you can see that Newton is overwhelmed by NFL verbiage.
Aside from not being able to call plays in the huddle, operate comfortably from under center, and having only one season of actual D1 experience, Newton has everything an NFL team should want.
