Oscars Preview

Simple post by me. Previewing the Oscars which will be on ABC tonight. I love movies and I"m currently trying to break into the business. Wanted to give my wonderful opinions about who will and should win and some of this years most obvious snubs. Not gonna write too much because you're not going to read it all anyways and I really don't feel like it.

Here We Go:

Best Supporting Actress:

The nominees are: Amy Adams in "The Master"

Sally Field in "Lincoln"

Anne Hathaway in "Les Misérables"

Helen Hunt in "The Sessions"

Jacki Weaver in "Silver Linings Playbook"

Who will win: Anne Hathaway

Who should win: Hathaway was good but Amy Adams was really good in "The Master"

Most overrated: Jacki Weaver in Silver Linings and Sally Field in Lincoln were both really overrated performances.

Should have been nominated: Maggie Smith's performance in "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" was much better than Field's and Weaver's combined.

Best Supporting Actor

The nominees are: Alan Arkin in "Argo"

Robert De Niro in "Silver Linings Playbook"
Philip Seymour Hoffman in "The Master"
Tommy Lee Jones in "Lincoln"
Christoph Waltz in "Django Unchained"

Who will win: Most likely Waltz for Django, but De Niro and Jones both won at other award shows.

Who should win: Waltz for Django. It's a no-brainer. He was amazing.

Most overrated: Jones for Lincoln. Really shouldn't have been nominated. J

Snubbed for nomination: DiCaprio for Django. Matthew McConaughey was also very good in Magic Mike. Javier Bardem in Skyfall was fantastic. I thought Arkin could have been replaced by any of these three.

Best Adapted Screenplay:
The nominees are: "Argo" Screenplay by Chris Terrio
"Beasts of the Southern Wild" Screenplay by Lucy Alibar & Benh Zeitlin
"Life of Pi" Screenplay by David Magee
"Lincoln" Screenplay by Tony Kushner
"Silver Linings Playbook" Screenplay by David O. Russell

Will win: Argo by Terrio.

Should win: Argo or Silver Linings Playbook

Overrated: Lincoln. Just no Speilberg just no.

Snubbed: Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. Way better than Lincoln.

Best Original Screenplay:

The nominees are: "Amour" Written by Michael Haneke
"Django Unchained" Written by Quentin Tarantino
"Flight" Written by John Gatins
"Moonrise Kingdom" Written by Wes Anderson & Roman Coppola
"Zero Dark Thirty" Written by Mark Boal

Will win: Django Unchained by Tarantino. Great script.

Should win: Django is good but Moonrise Kingdom by Anders and Coppola was a great script.

Overrated: Zero Dark Thirty is propaganda and Flight's script really wasn't that good.

Snubbed: Looper by Rion Johnson should have been nominated instead of either Flight or Zero Dark Thirty for sure.

Before I do the final 4 awards, and I'm not going to do every award, I want to say a few things. The Dark Knight Rises should have been nominated for a number of awards including sound and visual effects, and best director. Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty are terrible films. Daniel-Day Lewis was good and so was Jessica Chastain. They were the only good parts of either of those films.

Best Actress

The nominees are: Jessica Chastain in "Zero Dark Thirty"
Jennifer Lawrence in "Silver Linings Playbook"
Emmanuelle Riva in "Amour"
Quvenzhané Wallis in "Beasts of the Southern Wild"
Naomi Watts in "The Impossible"

Will win: Jennifer Lawerence in Silver Linings Playbook

Should win: Lawrence was really good she deserves it.

Overrated: None really.

Snubbed: Marion Cotillard in "Rust and Bone". She was nominated for her performance at pretty much every other awards show. She's a better actress than Chastain and Lawerence.

Best Actor
The nominees are: Bradley Cooper in "Silver Linings Playbook"
Daniel Day-Lewis in "Lincoln"
Hugh Jackman in "Les Misérables"
Joaquin Phoenix in "The Master"
Denzel Washington in "Flight"

Will Win : Daniel Day-Lewis...duh

Should win: Day-Lewis was great and the only good thing about Lincoln, but Joaquin Phoenix was insanely good in The Master.

Overrated: Hugh Jackman wasn't great in Les Miserables.

Snubbed: John Hawkes for "The Sessions.

Best Director:
The nominees are: "Amour" Michael Haneke
"Beasts of the Southern Wild" Benh Zeitlin
"Life of Pi" Ang Lee
"Lincoln" Steven Spielberg
"Silver Linings Playbook" David O. Russell

Will win: Unfortunately Speilberg will probably win for his horrible film.

Should win: Really none of these nominees are very deserving over the snubs but if I had to pick one I'd go with Behn Zeitlin for Beasts of the Southern Wild.

Overrated: Spielberg should have never been nominated.

Snubbed: Where to start. Everyone knows Ben Affleck should have been nominated and won this award. It's bullshit. Tarantino should have also been nominated as well as Christoper Nolan for "The Dark Knight Rises", Paul Thomas Anderson for "The Master" and Wes Anderson for "Moonrise Kingdom".

Best PIcture
The nominees are: "Amour" Nominees to be determined
"Argo" Grant Heslov, Ben Affleck and George Clooney, Producers
"Beasts of the Southern Wild" Dan Janvey, Josh Penn and Michael Gottwald, Producers
"Django Unchained" Stacey Sher, Reginald Hudlin and Pilar Savone, Producers
"Les Misérables" Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Debra Hayward and Cameron Mackintosh, Producers
"Life of Pi" Gil Netter, Ang Lee and David Womark, Producers
"Lincoln" Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy, Producers
"Silver Linings Playbook" Donna Gigliotti, Bruce Cohen and Jonathan Gordon, Producers
"Zero Dark Thirty" Mark Boal, Kathryn Bigelow and Megan Ellison, Producers

Will win: Argo and I have no problem with that.

Should win: Argo should but I wouldn't mind Django Unchained winning or even Silver Linings Playbook. Three really good films.

Overrated: Zero Dark Thirty is pure propaganda. It's shit. Shouldn't be nominated. Lincoln was also a big pile of historically wrong shit. Awful film. Amour is just a good french movie nothing more nothing less. Not impressive at all.

Snubbed: Looper was better than the three films I mentioned. So was Moonrise Kingdom, The Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall, and The Master. I would have taken out Zero Dark Thirty, Lincoln, and Amour and added a 10th nomination.

My 10 best films of the year:

10. Perks of Being a Wallflower

9. Life of Pi

8. Skyfall

7. The Master

6. Moonrise Kingdom

5. Silver Linings Playbook

4. Looper

3. Django Unchained

2. The Dark Knight Rises

1.Argo
