If You Think The Pens Should Trade Kris Letang You're Probably F*cking Stupid

Despite being in first place of the Atlantic division and second overall in the Easter Conference, the Pittsburgh Penguins have their flaws. Their backup goalie is getting worse and worse game by game. Evgeni Malkin has been out with a concussion, the coach doesn't seem to be making great decisions or adjustments, and the defense has been awful.

The Pens went into Sunday giving up the sixth most goals in the NHL. In their last four games the Pens have given up 17 goals, over four goals a game. Yikes. What's even worse is the Pens lack of physicality around their own net. They seem to not care at all about the opposing team screening their goalie and for some reason they love to chase the opposing team behind the net, despite that being hockey 101. DON'T DO IT. 

So of course on social media, when the Pens are giving up goals with the same ease that the Teen Mom's gave up their virginity's, everyone is going to react with lots and lots of "passion". Yeah let's use that word. 

You'd figure that Tomas Vokoun would be taking lots of heat. Same with maybe Tyler Kennedy and they did and do, both deservingly so. How about Brooks Orpik,who has been playing lost and soft lately? Nope. Didn't see too much hate on him. Wait, what? Tons of people started to propose that the Pens should trade Kris Letang? Yup...Take a look:

This is Kris Letang we're talking about. I mean they were actually talking about trading this guy:

On a night that Letang had 4 points in a 7-6 win over Montreal. 

Last year Letang almost averaged a point a game, and finished in the top 20 in total points among defensemen, despite only playing in 51 games. Letang could have challenged Erik Karlsson for most points by a defenseman if he didn't get injured. 

Now granted Letang hasn't been great on defense this year, but who has? Paul Martin and Simon Despres are the only guys that have played good in their own zone consistently, and Bylsma hates playing Despres for whatever reason. 

Letang's skills outweigh his flaws by a ton. He's averaging a point per game right now. He could win the Norris this year. Letang needs to play with Despres. Every time they play together they do well. Letang and Orpik don't mesh well for whatever reason. 

Martin being out of the lineup is crucial as well. 

The defense overall needs to get better. Of course the Pens and Ray Shero need to make a move. I'm sure they'll make more than one. But Letang is not going to get traded. That's actually pretty Fucking Stupid to even suggest. Seriously. 

Letang is one of the Pen's five best players, along with Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, and Neal. Letang is their best defensman. Right now he's producing more than any other d-man in the league. His speed and skills are elite, Karlsson is probably the only d-man in the league that may have more offensively ability. Letang's only 25 years old. If anything the Pens need to worry about locking Letang up with a new contract. 

Letang can do so many things, sure he makes mistakes, but in terms of production and skill he's still the best on the Pens roster by far. And some of YINZ want to take that guy and trade him from a team that is struggling on defense?........Like I said, If you think the Pens should trade Letang, you're probably f*cking stupid.
