Big win for the Pittsburgh Penguins over the Buffalo Sabers in Buffalo. The Pens defeated the Sabers by a score of 4-3. The game was one of the most exciting and well played hockey games so far this year.

  • Paul Martin scored the game-winner with 2:04 remaining. Martin might be one of the most improved players in the NHL right now. Martin was really good when he was with the New Jersey Devils but the last two seasons in Pittsburgh he was well, he sucked. But Martin doesn't suck anymore as Pen and that is awesome. Martin was the hero yesterday. Not the hero we deserved but the hero we needed. Nothing less than a knight. Shining

  • Sidney Crosby is once again the best player in the world. He's now just 1 point away from the league lead and had three points today. Crosby 18 points in his last 10 games. Who wants to bet that Crosby doesn't win the scoring title?
  • Pascal Dupuis has taken offense to all of the bloggers/writers saying the Pen's wingers suck. Dupuis had two goals and an assist in the win against the Sabers, and Dupuis is now 3rd on the team with 6 goals on the season, twice as many as Evgeni Malkin so far. Also proof that Crosby elevates EVERYONES game.
  • So much for the KHL giving Evgeni Malkin a legup in the NHL. Malkin only has three goals on the season and is a -2. Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz are both +11. I'm sure Malkin fanboys will blame it on Malkin not having a good left-winger which is funny because shouldn't the MVP Malkin elevate his teammates like Crosby? In Buffalo Malkin literally looked like a zombie.
  • Kris Letang is starting to bring it. He has three goals and 11 points in just 13 games. Yesterday he had the play of the game with a spin move past a defender then gave a sick backhand pass to Dupuis a one-timer game-winning goal! If Letang can keep this up he could finally land a Norris trophy nomination. Oh yeah it is a contract year for him.

  • *Why does Tyler Kennedy play ice hockey? He gets paid $2 million a year to play it at that. Why? Why does Dan Bylsma continue to play him? What does he do? Yesterday he hit a ref in the hands with the puck. After the Winnipeg game I was killing Kennedy on Twitter, someone told me to leave TK alone, I wish the Pens would have left him in Winnipeg instead.
  • Pens fans please shut the F*ck up about the powerplay. Seriously. They have scored a powerplay goal in each of the last six games. Paul Martin has actually helped the PP. On the year the Pens are 27.4% on the PP which eclipses the top PP % in the past 10+ years. Think about that.
  • The Pens continue to take stupid penalties. Yesterday they gave up a goal defending a 5-on-3. Tyler Glass had a brain fart and used his hands on a face-off which gave Buffalo the two-man advantage. The Pens are now tied for 8th in the NHL in most minor penalties. No discipline.
  • For some reason Simon Despres was a healthy scratch because Bylsma wanted a "tougher" lineup against Buffalo. Hey not everyone can handle hot sauce. Robert Bortuzzo got to play and he played well and I really like Bortuzzo. I also really like Despres who has five points in 12 games and is a +6. Despres is a big boy and I'm sure he could have handled the toughness of yesterday's game, after all Tyler Kennedy made it through the who game ok. Despres should be in the lineup every game, now the coach let everyone know that he doesn't think Despres is tough enough for certain games.
  • Steve Ott is a douce bag. And I thought I was a sore loser when my dek hockey team loses...Ott got into the face of Marc-Andre Fleury at the end of the game and exchanged some trash talk. Yo, Ott, you lost get over it. You suck. I'm not sure what was said but I'm sure it went something like this: Fleury- "Hey good game Steve, maybe next time I'll let you win, ha". Ott-"F*ck you Frenchie". Fleury- "Hey I'll let you win just say you like crepes". Ott "I'll never say I like crepes F*ck you and F*ck crepes". Fleury "No Steve Ott, F*ck you".
  • Fleury and Ryan Miller both player really well despite each giving up three goals, Miller ended up allowing four. Fleury is playing really well right now. He was amazing against Winnipeg and he had 30 saves in yesterdays win. He's doing a great job locating the puck and right now he is tied for the league lead in wins. Of course his detractors will hate him because he rarely gets shutouts. What they forget is that Fleury is tied for the franchise record for career shutouts with 22 and Fleury isn't even 30 years old yet.
  • I would much rather have Fleury than Miller who blamed his entire team for yesterdays lost. Has Fleury ever done that? The only time I've seen Miller be truly great was for team USA in the 2010 olympics. Other than that he's been good not great. And blaming your team for a loss is not cool even if it's true.

Pens got Philly on Wednesday night.
