15 in a row for Pens.
15 wins in row for the Pittsburgh Penguins. This is f*cking fun. For one, based on last night I didn't even think or know that Jarome Iginla was going to play today. Then I saw him in warm-ups wearing that dark blue Winter Classic jersey. My blood pressure went up sky high.

Steelers Should Sign Bradshaw
The Pittsburgh Steelers have had an off-season from hell. They lost their most productive running back, wide-receiver, outside linebacker, and their second best cornerback and signed Matt Spaeth, and William Gay. They have stood by, like usual, when other teams have signed familiar names to either upgrade or help replace key losses.
Insert the yinzer defense "The Steelers don't sign big names". Drink another Iron City Lite and shut the hell up. The good news is I am starting to develop a little more faith in Jason Worilds. I think he'll be fine next year as the starter. I don't think he'll be anywhere near James Harrison's level, but I don't think he'll be a bum either.
Eugene Melynk Keeps Bitching About Matt Cooke
Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk why do you keep talking? For those of you who are not aware or forgot why Melynk hates Matt Cooke so much here's why:
Not sure what kind of forensic study Melynk is going to do but perhaps some kind of study can be conducted on him, like a psychological study. Get a life Melynk, maybe they can do a study on why the Sens never won a Stanley Cup, despite having all of that talent. Your team sucks.
Imagine if Mario Lemieux would have asked for a forensic study on David Steckel for his hit on Crosby. What a turd Melynk is. The NHL should definitely fine his ass for this.

Pens Are All In, Now The Pressure Is On
Evil Shero |
Ray Shero and the Pittsburgh Penguins are "all in". The Pens have traded Joe Morrow and a 5th round pick for Brenden Morrow and followed that up with trading a pair of second round picks for ruthless defenseman Doug Murray from the San Jose Sharks.
Both of those moves are excellent moves for a number of reasons. One, the Pens needed a tough-stay at home defenseman and Murray is a guy who can bring it. He'll be excited to play with a team that actually has a chance to play for the Stanley Cup. B. Morrow is a tough two-way forward who can score goals. Morrow has had some knee problems but I think he'll be fine. And for those of you who were mad about not getting Jarome Iginla; A. The Pens are still in play for Iginla, and B. Morrow has just two less goals on the season than Iginila. He'll be perfect for Evgeni Malkin and James Neal.
Murray is a huge replacement for Deryk Engelland, who in my opinion is the weakest link on the Pen's blueline. Murray can flat out hit people, he's a beast, maybe he'll help Brooks Orpik get his balls back. The Pens gave up a good prospect in Joe Morrow but they have a plethora of young defenseman who many consider better than Morrow. Scott Harrington, Robert Bortuzzo, Olli Matta, Derrick Pouliot, and Brian Dumoulin. Joe Morrow won't be missed, Brenden Morrow brings grit, scoring, and leadership to a team that desperately needed that more than a good prospect for the future.
This is a grand slam by Shero. The guy could sell a ketchup popsicle to a lady wearing white gloves. Why would the Dallas Stars even answer calls from Shero anymore? Shero is arguably the best GM in pro sports right now, at the very least the best in the NHL. When you look at these moves, getting Sutter and Pouliot for Jordan Staal, signing Fleury, Crosby, Malkin, Neal, all long term. The trades for Neal, Marian Hossa & Pascal Dupuis, Gary Roberts, and Bill Guerin, he's amazing. Pure genius.
You have to give up to this class organization. From top to bottom they give great efforts. The owners, the GM, hell even the trainer. The Pens are the best sports organization in Pittsburgh and they're on their way to being the best organization in pro sports. This team is once again set up to win a Stanley Cup.
But now the pressure is on more than ever. Every game and more importantly, every loss will be quantified. Most of that pressure on head coach Dan Bylsma and goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. If this team gets upset in the playoffs and bounced early again, both of these guys will share blame almost no matter what. I wouldn't even have to watch the games to know who everyone would blame.
I think the pressure is on Bylsma big time. This team is stacked from top to bottom. You'd have to think that almost any coach would die to get a chance to coach this team. Crosby, Malkin, Neal, Fleury, grit, leadership, franchise goalie, my god. At this point, anything less than a Stanley Cup championship would be a disappointment. This team is already the favorite to win it all. They're the team to beat. Bylsma's pressure stems from the fact that he's only won one playoff series in the last three seasons. I think a deep playoff run is crucial for his job security. Lets go Pens- Let them eat cake.

Pens Beat Flyers, Acquire Brenden Morrow.
What a great time to be a fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Pens have now won 12 games in a row, are in first place in their division and their conference, and they just acquired Brenden Morrow from the Dallas Stars.

Talking Pens
The Pittsburgh Penguins have won 10 games in a row and they will put that streak on the line tonight when they face the New York Islanders in Long Island. If the flightless birds win tonight they'll match the Chicago Blackhawks for the longest winning streak in the NHL this season.
Two seasons ago the Islanders stopped Sidney Crosby's amazing 25-game point streak. The Pens also play the Philadelphia Flyers this Sunday night and the Flyers ended the Pen's 11-game win streak just last season.
How great has Marc-Andre Fleury been lately? He leads the NHL in wins with 16, and he's 4-0 in his last four games, with a save percentage of .957. Backup Tomas Vokoun has been much better lately, picking up wins in his last four games played, allowing just two goals in the last eight periods of play.
The Pens lead the league in goals scored right now as a team.
They also have the leader in :
Total points (Sidney Crosby)
Assists: (Crosby)
Points by a defenseman: (Kris Letang)
+/- : (Chris Kunitz)
Wins: (Marc-Andre Fleury)
Of course, considering the history of general manager Ray Shero with the Pens, they will most likely make a move or two by the trade deadline. They lead the league in scoring, so I don't think they need a top six forward, although Chris Stewart from St. Louis, but I still don't think the Pens should give up Joe Morrow or Simon Despres for a rental player.
I think the Pens need more grit on their 4th line. In other words, they need someone better than Tanner Glass. The guy I like to replace him is Boyd Gordon from Phoenix. The Coyotes might not make the playoffs and Gordon's contract is up. Gordon isn't a sniper by any means, but he does have more points than Joe Vitale and Glass combined this year. He's also one Hell of a penalty-killer.
I also like the idea of getting Ladislav Smid from the Edmonton Oilers. Going into the playoffs, my top six defensemen would be: Letang, Brooks Orpik, Despres, Paul Martin, Matt Niskanan, and Smid. Smid and Gordon are the ways to go. No need for Ignila, give up that dream.
Lastly, I wanted to talk about James Neal, who hasn't scored a goal in his last four game. Miss Evgeni Malkin much? Neal hasn't found chemistry with Dustin Jeffery at all. Get well soon Geno.
Lets go Pens!

Pitt and Jamie Dixon disappoint again. Time for a change?
Plus:
"His 262 wins are third most in NCAA history through any coach's first decade, his Big East winning percentage was the greatest in conference history, he won three conference titles, and yeah, he's at least gotten the Panthers to the Big Dance nine times now. Every year but last year." - Dejan Kovacevic Read more: http://triblive.com/sports/dejankovacevic/dejancolumns/3685403-74/dixon-pitt-coach#ixzz2OD5xhvVO

Can Big Ben Get Some Damn Help
The Steelers went 8-8 last year and the other day I wrote that the sky was falling. 8-8 and heartbreak. Well, it's true, the Steelers are in bad shape and I don't see any prevalent signs that things will get better, unless the Steelers have one of their greatest drafts in NFL history.
What's even more puzzling is the Steeler's choices of signings and releases this offseason mixed with what I hear are their "interests". Especially after their franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, restructured his contract to help the cap situation, for the second time in his career. Compared to other teams around the NFL, the Steelers have no idea how to tread a franchise quarterback.
Marc-André Fleury est étonnant
@Evil_Shero |
Calling all Marc-Andre Fleury haters. Where are you guys all at? Really can't seem to find many of "yinz" lately. It was just a few weeks ago, when the defense and Fleury were both struggling to stop the other team from scoring. A large part in that is due to the penalty-kill, which continues to get better and better every game. Another part is the defensive play and commitment to defense by the entire team and coaching staff. More importantly though, the pucks have stopped going in as frequently thanks to "Flower Power".

Pens Don't Need Iginla
bluechipprospect |
This past weekend I wrote that the Pittsburgh Penguins should trade for someone like Brenden Morrow instead of Jarome Ignila. After this weekend's games, I would like to think that everyone should share that sentiment. After a 5-4 win over of the Toronto Maple Leafs, that took a shootout, and a 6-1 dominating win over the New York Islanders, the Pens are rolling right now, winners of five straight games.

Steelers cut James Harrison
James Harrison has been cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday. Harrison reportedly won't take a pay cut, and without any kind of pay cut the Steelers really had no choice but to release Mr. Harrison and wish him their best on his future endeavors.
“James has been an integral part of our success during his years in Pittsburgh and helped us win two Lombardi Trophies during that time,” Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said in a team-released statement. “We appreciate all of his efforts and wish him the best.”-http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/pittsburgh-steelers-release-james-harrison-030913
The Pens Should Trade For....................
@Evil_Shero |
The Pittsburgh Penguins are on top of the Atlantic division at the halfway point of the season. The Pens are going to make the playoff and they should compete for a Stanley Cup. When the Pens went to the finals in back to back years they made some big time trades each year. In 2007-2008 they traded for Marian Hossa and Pascal Dupuis, giving up Colby Armstrong, Angelo Esposito, and Eric Christensen. They also sent a pair of draft picks to Toronto for Hal Gill. The results were great for the Pens. Hossa was amazing in the playoffs and the Pens came close as Hell to winning a Stanley Cup.
Hossa left in free-agency that off season for Detroit, which sucked, but the Pens got the last laugh. The Pens won the cup against Detroit the very next season and once again made some big moves around the trade deadline. In February the Pens got Chris Kuntiz (and Eric Tangradi lulz) for Ryan Whitney. I wonder who won that deal?...... Then at the actual deadline the Pens got Bill Guerin from the New York Islanders for a conditional pick. Another win for Ray Shero and the Pens. Yinz know the rest of the story.

Richard Sherman Owns Skip Bayless Lulz
Quotes from Mike Sando of ESPN
Best quotes from the debate....
Sherman: "So, I'm at the top of my field. I'm All-Pro. I'm one of the best 22 players in the NFL. You're going to brush it off, but I don't think you're the best 22 anything. In sports, in media, in anything."
Bayless: "That's debatable."
Sherman: "You think more of yourself than you actually can prove."
Bayless: "OK, do you think you are better than Darrelle Revis is right now?"
Sherman: "In my 24 years of life, I'm better at life than you."
Bayless: "OK, all right, that's fair, all right."
Sherman: "You are ignorant, pampas, egotistical, cretin"

F*CK ESPN
@Evil_Shero |
The Chicago Blackhawks are doing something incredible right now. They haven't lost in regulation all year. They beat the Minnesota Wild tonight to keep the streak alive. The Blackhawks have now gone 23 straight games without losing in regulation. That's unreal. What an amazing accomplishment in perhaps the most grueling/hard to play sport in the world.
Hockey fans can surely appreciate what the Blackhawks are doing, but why does ESPN not only have to pretend to care, but then go on to shit all over the sport? Watch this "debate" on one of ESPN's shows, where Stephen A. Smith not only shits all over hockey, but does inaccurately.

William Gay is Coming Back To Pittsburgh!
Finally and The Rock means finally William Gay is coming back to Pittsburgh! I"m just kidding I'm not really that excited as some of yinz are but thanks to Twitter and social media, we now know that Gay is coming back to Pittsburgh.

If You Think The Pens Should Trade Kris Letang You're Probably F*cking Stupid
Despite being in first place of the Atlantic division and second overall in the Easter Conference, the Pittsburgh Penguins have their flaws. Their backup goalie is getting worse and worse game by game. Evgeni Malkin has been out with a concussion, the coach doesn't seem to be making great decisions or adjustments, and the defense has been awful.
Pens beat Montreal 7-6 in OT
What a F*cking game that was last night. The Pens pulled a rabbit out of their ass by beating the Montreal Canadiens in overtime by a score of 7-6. This might have been the least confident most Pens fans were going into a game this year. It was a perfect storm for the Canadiens. They were at home, the Pens were facing former head coach Michelle Therrien, no Evgeni Malkin, and for some reason Dany Bylsma decided to start Tomas Vokoun.

This isn't Nashville, Time to change tune in Pittsburgh
The Nashville Predators first played in the National Hockey League (NHL) on October 10, 1998 and behind the bench that night was head coach Barry Trotz. Since that opening game, Trotz has been the only man fans in Nashville have called coach. That's something cute and interesting in this day of being hired to be fired but the expectations in Nashville are not exactly on the same level as those for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
In Pittsburgh, great expectations hang over the heads of everyone in the organization from owners Ron Burkle and Mario Lemieux, franchise centers Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin to rookie winger Beau Bennett.
No Despes and No Fleury Against Montreal
Pittsburgh Penguins take on the Montrael Canadiens tonight, the two best teams in terms of points in the Eastern Conference. The Pens will be without Evgeni Malkin who continues to skate while listening to the Rosetta Stone. Paul Martin will also be out of the lineup for a lower-body injury.
In a stunning move head coach Dan Bylsma has put Mark Eaton in the lineup and will keep Robert Bortuzzo in the lineup instead of Simon Despres. I guess he either didn't read my blog post about how Simon Despres has made the lineup so much better. That or he didn't like it and is doing all of this out of pride.
Not playing Despres is the stupidest thing I have ever seen done by a coach. Did Despres do something personally against Bylsma? What the F*ck is going on with this situation. Bylsma will continue to say that Despres has a bad attitude or that he's not physical enough even though his hits per game is actually pretty good, about the same as Kris Letang's. Despres is one of their six best defensemen. And he's not getting any playing time even though everyone seems to agree that Despres should be in. #FREEDESPRES
Then Bylsma tops not playing Despres by not playing Marc-Andre Fleury against the best team in the conference on the road. Despite Tomas Vokoun being 1-2 with in his last 4 starts, and giving up 16 goals in those 4 starts. Fleury gave up 4 goals against Carolina but the goals nor the loss was really his fault. Why is he being punished? Fleury loves playing against Montrael.
The Canadians are the best team in the East, Fleury loves playing in Montreal. So let's play are old and struggling backup again. Apparently Bylsma made the goalie schedule two months in advance. Ok? So that means you have to go by the schedule? It's set in stone and no changes or adjustments can be made? I don't even know why I asked that, Bylsma and making adjustments does not go together. The only adjustment Bylsma knows is putting Crosby and Malkin on the ice together sometimes. Other than that it's the same old shit.
Pens are now 5th in the NHL in minor penalties. I guess we can't blame Bylsma for that either? 1 playoff series win in the last three seasons. Three straight playoff series losses. Tick Tock.
HOPE I'M WRONG ABOUT ALL OF THIS AND THE PENS WIN TONIGHT. GO PENS
